Love Feast Celebration

What is a Love Feast celebration?

A Love Feast celebration (also known as Agape Feast) is a traditional Christian fellowship service that recalls the meals Jesus shared with the disciples during his ministry and expresses the koinonia  (community, sharing, fellowship) enjoyed by those in the family of Christ.

Love Feast
The modern history of the Love Feast celebration began with the Moravians in 1727 in Germany with a service of sharing food, prayer, religious conversation and hymns.  It quickly became a regular part of Christian meetings in Great Britain and in the English speaking world.  Immigrants brought this celebration to America.

The Love Feast celebration has many traditional vital components such as Prayer, Scripture and song (Hymns).  Testimonies and praise are also a focal point.  Praise may take the form of song, choruses, or spoken statements/ testimonials.  These testimonies take a variety of forms including personal witness to God’s grace or accounts of what God has been doing in the lives of others.

The service will also include the breaking of bread using Moravian rolls and coffee, cocoa etc.  It is customary not to use the traditional sharing of bread, wine or grape juice as is reserved for our Lord’s Supper.

All are welcome to join our congregation in this historical sharing of prayer, song and scripture on this weekend of the Celebration of Love.

Traditional Sunday Worship  begins at 9:00 AM.  Contemporary Praise Worship begins at 11:00 AM. Communion will be served at our 11:00 AM Worship service.

We Hope to see you there!
